KV's new article on Embro
Prep
By: Kyle Von Hoetzendorff
It is Cyclocross season and I would be a liar if I said I didn’t want to just go out there and kick everyone’s ass, yet the reality of the situation must be acknowledged and while I suspect there may be a few asses out there that may be kicked by your humble narrator I am afraid that count will be much too pitiful to consider said kicking universal, in substitute I offer you a piece of fantasy riffage.
Immediately after writing the word riffage, I quit word processing and briefly turn my attention to World of Warcraft. Of course my strategy was working perfectly, Genghis Khan meets Erwin Rommel, and my Elvin mercenaries are dismembering the best paladins a 13 year old named Kevin P. from Erie, IN had to offer. His players look like casualties from a IED made of piranhas and rusted razor blades; needless to say things were well in hand. I fielded an IM from the president of Kiva asking for more advice on how first world entities can help to provide agency to individuals in the third world. We again went over the steps needed to better help to facilitate an enriched life experience across the globe, it would be better if he just had me run the foundation, but I helped the poor man, and honestly I just don’t have the time.

My 1st Cross win
I didn't expect to do well because I had been sick for the last week and a half and it was pouring all day so the Cross Crusade course at PIR was like peanut butter in some places and a milkshake in others. My goal was to not crash. I didn't pre ride the course and to warm up I ate a doughnut. A lot of people race on Sunday so, again, I didn't think I would do well. After finishing the race I felt good, but since you race with other categories it's really hard to tell how you placed until you see the results posted. I was hoping for top ten and at first I didn't see my name in the top ten, but then when I looked up at first and saw my name I got stoked out of my mind. Win.

Fat Tires and Fat Hearts
I know you hear about 21st Ave Bicycles a crap load because I work there, but I don't talk too much about our sister shop, the Fat Tire Farm. I went over there the other day to hang out. I love those boys.

Yes, this picture is mildly disturbing, but I kind of love it for that reason. I was helping Craig open his beer.

Welcome Back
I know you probably don't give two flying farts about football, but I was raised on it so I just can't help myself. Okay? If you know me you know my love for the Vikings. I grew up watching the Vikings, and coming from the Norsk North, I feel a special bond to the team. So.... I am super stoked to welcome BACK Randy Moss to the Minnesota Vikings!!!! When he was traded I was sad, now those sad days are gone. Feck yeah!

No, I'm not doing a bunch of blow, but this is a sweet jam none the less. Sweet is an understatement actually.

Use your words, win big stuff
I know this blog is supposed to be bicycle stuff or whatever, but motorcycles are awesome. I especially like vintage motorcycle photography. Today I stumbled (Googled) upon the essence of what it is to be a bad-ass. It kind of sends me for a loop being that I can't actually articulate how bad-ass it really is. I feel like bad-ass is too subjective, plus I'm lazy, so I'm gonna say we're having a semantics contest to describe the feeling I'm having right now. So look deep inside myself and use your best word. Post your word along with the definition and we'll pick a winner at the end of the week. Being that no one does anything for free, Ima give out a huge, most likely low quality poster of the image in question.
I pay a lot of money to go to school and in return I get to print out what ever the hell I want on the biggest printer I've ever seen. And if I've learned anything in art school it's that if it sucks, just make it bigger and everyone will love it.

Portland Artcrank
Looking back on it I should have taken the names down of the people who made the pictures, but I have a pretty bad cold so I didn't last long enough to be thorough.

Jason Miranda's Swede Steed poster ties into the window design he did for the shop. Notice the Trusty Switchblade's on the steed's chest.

Jason Miranda's 21st window
Jason Miranda, of Overhaul Design and fellow Trusty Switchblade teammate, was the artist who did the October window design for us. I am guessing the Swedish horses is a Scandinavian shout out to Nick and me (Amanda). Hi Five!

Survey...
The results clearly show that ten out of ten people wish they could go back in time and hang out at a motocross track.

Cross Crusade
Wow. Super fun. It was my first cross race and I kind of crushed it. I felt really good on the bike and hit the small jump that was in front of our team's tent every lap. I get really bad pre race jitters in the form of gas before I do any sort of racing and this time was no exception. Sorry to the rest of my team that had to hang out while I was cutting muffins. Fellow Trusty Switchblade teammate, Jason Bacon, took some sweet photos, but they are not loading for some reason. I will have them up soon. In the mean time, here is me being awesome.
...also, if you do not have a Tonic Fab cross frame, get one. You won't regret it.

Last Night
Sean, Mitch, and I started the evening off at Skeleton Key Tattoo for Jake Tong's art show.
Majestic
It's like that movie Mannequin, but when this girl comes to life she has no head and that's not as fun. It's kind scary to be honest.
After the art show we headed over to Nemo Design for a motorcycle art show. That's where we had the Bridgetown Hustle event.
Dapper Dan
Delighted Dunn
Lulu and KV: proud new parent
Midge
Jordan layin on the charm
I got a picture of James' bike, but no James.
We ended the night off with some food carts and a game he swears will replace our love of Mancala.
